This is
an old skylight unit.
As new roofs have been installed the old skylight has remained at the same level. |
|
As this close-up shows; The curbing has become embedded into the roof deck. Cracks have formed along the base. This is a potential leak. |
|
This image shows how
we dig the old skylight out of the roof deck. |
|
The old skylight is
then removed to expose the skylight curbing. |
|
2X3 wood is installed
on top of the skylight curbing to raise the old skylight off the roof deck. White aluminum trim metal is installed inside the skylight well to cover the newly installed wood. |
|
Rubber flashings are
then applied to seal the skylight curbing. |
|
The skylight is then
reset and the new curbings are sealed with roofing cement & four-inch
roofing fabric. |
|
Finally the old skylight
is given a fresh coat of red paint. The skylight glass is sealed with silicone caulk. The entire roof is coated with aluminum fibered coating. |
