At Clarence
Smith Roofing we seal out all our new capping edges with roofing cement
& four-inch roofing fabric. |
|
As this close-up shows; Some other contractors don't even go to that much trouble. This roof shows just the nail heads on the capping edge sealed with roofing cement. Water is able to run under the capping, causing a leak. |
|
This image shows how
other contractors only coat the roof deck and not the entire roof. The walls in this photo are composed of 90 Lb granulated organic felt paper. This material will degrade over time, many times faster then the roof deck itself. By not coating these walls they will develop holes in several years, requiring a more costly repair then if they had been properly maintained in the first place. |
|
This is the example
roof used on the virtual tour as it appeared originally. The outlet was old, the skylight was dug into the deck & cracks had developed in the walls & roof deck. |
|
This is the same roof
as it appeared after the installation of the new modified rubber roof. The outlet was replaced, the skylight was raised and flashed & new rubber walls and roof deck were installed. |
|
Finally a coat of premium
grade aluminum fibered coating was applied to the roof. This is required by the manufacturer to prevent premature drying & shrinkage of the new roof. Many contractors avoid this last step to cut costs. Doing so will shorten the life of the new roof. By applying our roofs within manufacturer specifications, Clarence Smith Roofing can provide you with a roof that will outlast & outperform cheaper roofs installed by less detail oriented companies. |
